F.A.Q. - FREQUENTLY ASK QUESTIONS
- How were transfer factors discovered?
While studying tuberculosis, Dr. H. Sherwood Lawrence, a prominent researcher at New York University, discovered that one of the secrets to a strong immune system was hiding in nature. He identified that immune information could be transferred from a donor to a recipient (from a smart immune system to one that needs more help). He realized that there were certain "factors" doing the actual transferring. He named these molecules transfer factors.
- What are the advantages of using multiple sources?
4Life uses chicken eggs and cow colostrum as sources for its transfer factors and nanofractions. Chickens and cows live outside, where they contend with the challenges of varying weather conditions and communal living. This leaves them exposed to a variety of germs, which their immune systems must battle in order to stay healthy—making cows and chickens ideal donors for transfer factors and nanofractions. And combining these sources produces a synergistic effect.
- How is 4Life Transfer Factor®different from cow colostrum itself?
Transfer factors can be found within the bodies of mammals and birds. 4Life extracts transfer factors from cow colostrum and chicken egg yolks. Cow colostrum, for example, contains many immune building blocks, but most of these can’t be transferred from a cow to a human. However, the power of transfer factors can. 4Life Transfer Factor uses a highly-specialized filtration process, so you get all of that concentrated transfer factor goodness and none of the fillers your body can't use.
- Are transfer factors and nanofractions safe?
Yes. Transfer factors and nanofractions are designed by the immune system for the immune system so they are safe and effective for people of all ages. 4Life’s extraction processes avoid or remove common allergens from egg and colostrum sources so they are non-allergenic. And, any remaining lactose in colostrum-derived transfer factors or nanofractions is far below the amounts that typically cause reactions. (As a precaution, people with allergies specifically to egg yolks should check with their physician before taking 4Life Products with Transfer Factor E-XF™ or Targeted Transfer Factor®.)
- How are the cows and chickens treated?
All of the 4Life animals are regularly inspected by the USDA. 4Life utilizes excess colostrum for its Transfer Factor products, so the calves get all the colostrum they need to be healthy and strong. The cows are USDA Grade A dairy cattle whose milk is sold in grocery stores nationwide. The egg whites from the chickens are also used in the nation’s food supply.
- What are the differences between transfer factors and nanofractions?
Transfer factors are small, but nanofractions are even smaller. They both support the immune system, but in different ways. Transfer factors help your immune system recognize, respond to, and remember outside invaders. In short, they provide intelligence. Nanofractions help control the "on" and "off" switches, making sure that your immune system responds like it should, when it should. They possess an extraordinary amount of intuition, or "street smarts." They are able to assess situations and enable immune cells to plan an attack that’s effective and appropriate every single time.
- What are the sources of 4Life Transfer Factor and NanoFactor™?
Transfer Factor E-XF™ combines transfer factors from chicken egg yolks and cow colostrum. 4Life’s NanoFactor extract is 4Life’s concentrate of nanofractions from cow colostrum. Tri-Factor™Formula is a combination of Transfer Factor E-XF and NanoFactor.
- Is 4Life Transfer Factor safe for children?
Children ages 2-12 may take any product specifically labeled for use by children. Currently, this includes 4Life Transfer Factor Kids, 4Life Transfer Factor Chewable Advanced Formula, and 4Life Transfer Factor RioVida®Tri-Factor Formula.
- Where can I find out more about how transfer factors work?
A great resource for extra information is Science and Synergy: 4Life Transfer Factor and Your Immune System. You can also check out PubMed for more information on Transfer Factor studies and research.
- Is there scientific validation for transfer factors and nanofractions?
Yes! In the 50 years since Dr. Lawrence’s pioneering work on transfer factors, an estimated $40 million has been spent researching transfer factors and hundreds of scientific papers have been published documenting their effectiveness.
